Founded in California in 2019 by Kamini Patel, an Indian-American mom of two, Aarika's Closet was created to make shopping for comfortable South Asian kids' clothing easier for families across the United States.
Growing up Indian-American, celebrating and sharing my Indian heritage has always been an important part of my life. From festivals and weddings to family gatherings, these traditions helped me stay connected to my roots. When I became a mom, I wanted my daughters to experience that same connection and excitement.
My daughters, Aarohi and Riya, were the inspiration behind the name Aarika's Closet.
I loved watching their excitement as we planned outfits for Diwali, Navratri, weddings, and other celebrations. But finding beautiful Indian outfits they actually wanted to wear? That was another story.
Too often, the traditional outfits we brought back from India or received from family were itchy, uncomfortable, or simply not practical for kids who wanted to run, play, and enjoy themselves. And I found myself packing a change of clothes for almost every celebration!
I knew I couldn't be the only parent facing this challenge.
That's why I started Aarika's Closet — to bring comfort, culture, and style together.
Our boutique offers a thoughtfully curated collection of Indian ethnic wear and South Asian-inspired everyday clothing for babies, toddlers, kids, and teens. From festive lehengas and kurta pajama sets to soft cotton dresses and casual outfits, we focus on clothing that's comfortable, easy to wear, and made for kids to be kids.
And because we know how challenging it can be to find the right outfit for a special occasion, we make shopping easier by offering our collections right here in the USA. No waiting for international shipments, coordinating purchases from India, or worrying whether an outfit will arrive in time for a celebration.
For me, Aarika's Closet has always been about more than clothing. It's about helping our children embrace their heritage, celebrate traditions, and create memories of their own — all while feeling comfortable and confident.
Because celebrating our culture should never mean compromising on comfort.
